Introduction to the Tokyo Hire-Taxi Association

The Tokyo Hire-Taxi Association (THTA) is an organization of corporate taxi hire business operators in Tokyo. It has been a general incorporated association since April 1, 2013 due to reforms in the system of public interest corporations, when it also changed its name from the Tokyo Passenger Vehicle Association, an incorporated association established on April 1, 1960.

Objective To promote the sound development of business activities through the proper operation of general passenger vehicle transportation businesses and enhanced services for users, thus contributing to social and public welfare.

  1. Conducting research, studies, and the development of measures that contribute to the proper operation of general passenger vehicle transportation businesses, and promoting their sound development
  2. Gathering data, and formulating and circulating statistics
  3. Educational and PR activities related to general passenger vehicle transportation businesses
  4. Conducting research and studies for the welfare of members
  5. Maintaining communications with relevant government agencies
  6. Submitting requests and suggestions to the government and various relevant parties on matters concerning general passenger vehicle transportation businesses, and promoting their implementation.
  7. Renting, managing, and operating rooms
  8. Establishing and operating training centers for drivers with Class 2 licenses
  9. Other business activities necessary for achieving the objectives of the Association Business activities are conducted in Tokyo.
